Seeing Red

... so these are the rules I made myself when purging the clutter!

1.  Do I love it?
2.  Do I have a real plan for this?
3.  Am I taking proper care of this?

If I answered no to any of these questions, I let it go.  Goodwill, re-homed or trashed.

4.  Can I obtain this again?

If the answer was yes, then I let it go.

... here are a couple mantras

1.  I'm not poor, I can buy this again.
2.  Make room for better things.

... and while I'm at it, here are a few questions I ask myself when deciding if I should buy something collectible

1.  Will this improve my collection?

If I answer yes, then I may buy it.

2.  Is this the focus of my collection?
3.  Will I be able to care for this properly?

If I answer no, then I need to move on.

4.  Am I buying this just to buy something?

If I answer yes, then I need to get out of that store.  Especially at Tuesday Morning lol

Hope this helps you.

  1. Your first four questions, I am going to borrow as I go through my stuff. Thanks for phrasing them succinctly.

Your second manta "make room for better things" is like a promise for newer or more interesting now things. I want to download, unload stuff; I'll be more ... focused and careful.

  3. I just stumbled across this and it comes at a time in my life when I am doing just exactly this! I am paring down my dollie collection and can definitely relate to 'if I don't love it, lose it'. I also have ALOT of fabric so I'm going through everything to hopefully get it all to eventually fit into just one room. Thanks for the tips, I will definitely be using them!

  4. I'm so glad you found this! I too have a ton of fabric. I've gotten myself to at least get rid of the tiny pieces that could be a dollie tea towel. It's a place to start :)
